Sunday Morning Update

Good Sunday morning folks. Yesterday was a very active day in the weather department. We were lucky and dodged the severe weather threat, but we weren't able to avoid the flooding as many roadways were covered with water. There were also countless swift water rescues across the state due to vehicles attempting to cross flooded roads.

Today will be less active, but more weather impacts are coming as winds increase in speed behind a cold front. Winds today will be sustained between 20-30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. For this reason, the NWS has issued a wind advisory which is in effect until 7 PM EST today.

Trees can quickly be brought down with today’s winds especially since the ground is so saturated. Flood products also remain in in effect for areas that are still dealing with flooding issues, mainly for eastern Kentucky.

The first of the week looks excellent before more rain moves in on Thursday and Friday. I’ll have another blog looking at your week ahead later today, have a great Sunday.
